Common Proficiency Test (CPT) December 2016 Exam Date Announced

No.13-CA (EXAM)/CPT/December/2016: In pursuance of Regulation 22 of the Chartered Accountants Regulations, 1988, the Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of lndia is pleased to notify that the Common Proficiency Test will be held on Sunday, 18 December, 2016 in two sessions. [This Common Proficiency Test will be conducted as per provisions of Regulation 25 D (3) of the Chartered Accountants Regulations, 1988.] 

First Session (i.e. Morning Session)	10.30 AM to 12.30 PM (IST) Section - A Fundamentals of Accounting Section - B Mercantile Laws
Second Session (i.e. Afternoon Session)	2.00 PM to 4.00 PM (IST) Section - C General Economics Section - D Quantitative Aptitude

Applications for admission to Common Proficiency Test is required to be made in the relevant prescribed form as contained in the information Brochure, which may be obtained from the Deputy Secretary (Examinations), The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, lCAl Bhawan, lndraprastha Marg, New Delhi -.. 110002 on payment of Rs. 1500 (Rs. 500 towards examination fee and Rs. 1000- towards cost of application form and information brochure) per application form. 

The information brochure containing Comrion Proficiency Test application form will also be available in the Regional and Branch Offices of the lnstitute and can be obtained there from on cash payment on or from 6th October, 2016

Cost of Purchasing form is Rs. 1000. However the fees of Rs. 1000 for purchasing the Exam form need not be paid in case the students opts for submitting the Exam form online from 6th Oct 2016 to 27th Oct 2016 (17.30hrs). Applications for admission to these examinations are required to be made either online at http://icaiexam.icai.org 

Common Proficiency Test application forms duly filled in may be sent so as to reach the Deputy Secretary (Examinations) at New Delhi not later than 27th October, 2016.
It may be noted that there is no provision for acceptance of application forms after 27th October, 2016 with late fee. 


The aforesaid Common Proficiency Test (CPT) is open only to students registered with the * lnstitute of Chartered Accountants of lndia for the Common Proficiency Course on or before 1st  October, 2016 and fulfill the requisite eligibility conditions.

Student Registration Number of candidates who are admitted to the Common Proficiency Test(CPT) to be held on 14th June 2015

It has been brought to our notice that the student registration number appearing on the admit cards relating to CPT June 2015 (hosted on www.icai.nic.in and in physical admit cards sent by post to those applicants who submitted the OMR exam forms) of some of the candidates is different from their registration number furnished by them in their exam forms. This error has crept in inadvertently, due to some technical problems.

The error has already been rectified in the data base of applicants for the CPT to be held on 14th June 2015. Individual communications have also been sent to all the affected candidates by way of a speed post letter as well as by emails, intimating their correct registration number. 

The affected candidates are advised to note that no fresh admit cards will be issued. Admit cards already issued are valid for admission to the Common Proficiency Test to be held on 14th June 2015. Affected candidates are advised to take note of the above and appear in the CPT as per the details contained in the admit cards already issued. The correct registration number will appear in their Result Cards. 

Affected candidates can click here to check their updated registration number in the data base of the applicants for CPT to be held on 14th June 2015. It may be noted that the list contains only those cases where the registration number on the admit card is different from the one furnished by the candidate in his exam form, which has since been rectified in our database. 

Cases where the registration number printed on the admit card is the same as provided by the candidate in his exam form, will not appear in the list, since there is no correction/updation required in such cases. 

In case of any discrepancy or for any clarifications, candidates can write to us at cpt_exam@icai.in or call the Help Desk at 0120 3054851, 852, 853, 854, 835, 0120-4953751, 752, 753 and 754. 

Further, it is clarified that there is no error in the student registration number on the admit card issued to rest of the candidates.

Important Announcement For CPT June, 2015 Examination.

The Examination Application Form for admission to CPT June, 2015 examination is available from 7th April, 2015 and 28th April, 2015 is the last date for submission of filled up examination application form. The application form is available online at http://icaiexam.icai.org besides physical (OMR) applications forms also are available at the Institute’s Head Office, Regional Offices, Branches and Abu Dhabi/Dubai Chapters. 

Candidates who fulfill the following eligibility conditions, can apply for admission to CPT June, 2015 examination: 

(1) Registered* to Common Proficiency Course with Board of Studies of ICAI on or before 1st April, 2015; and 

(2) Either passed or appeared or going to appear in April/May, 2015 in Senior Secondary recognized Examination (10+2 examination). 

*Candidates who have applied on or before 1st April, 2015 for Common Proficiency Course registration with Regional offices of the Institute / Online but have not yet been issued registration number, can also apply for admission to CPT June, 2015 examination on Provisional basis; subject to their submission of a copy of their registration letter to the Examination Department at a later stage but before issue of Admit Cards.

New Subjects added in CA Course from 2016

ICAI has released the draft of the New Course and has added new subjects in the CA Curriculum. Brief Highlights of the same are as follows:-

Changes in CA Foundation

1. Name changed from CPT to CA Foundation
2. Duration increased to 9 months

Changes in CA Intermediate

1. Cost Accounting and Financial Management to be 2 different subjects
2. Duration of Intermediate Course increased from 9 months to 12 months
3. Subject Removed:- Information Technology and Strategic Management

Changes in CA Final

1. New subject introduced: Capital Markets and Financial Services
2. Subject Removed: Information System and Control Audit
3. Eligibility to appear for CA Final only after completion of full period of Articleship

There are several other changes as well which are proposed to be introduced in CA Course to be introduced next year.

No.13-CA(Exam)/CPT/December/2014/II: In partial modification of the Institute’s Notification No.13- CA(Exam)/CPT/December/2014 dated 16th July, 2014, it is hereby notified for general information that in view of the Election to the Legislative Assemblies of States i.e. Jharkhand and Jammu & Kashmir, the
Common Proficiency Test (CPT) initially scheduled to be held on 14th December 2014 at Dhanbad (in the State of Jharkhand) and Srinagar (in the State of Jammu & Kashmir) stand rescheduled and the test will now be held at Dhanbad & at Srinagar on 21st December 2014 at the same timings i.e. 10.30 AM to
12.30 PM and 2.00 PM to 4.00 PM (IST).

However, it is clarified that the schedule of Common Proficiency Test notified vide Notification No.13- CA(Exam)/CPT/December/2014 dated 16th July, 2014 in respect of all other cities shall remain unchanged.

Criteria for Deceleration of Rank for CPT, IPC & CA Final Exams

ICAI recognizes meritorious candidates in CPT, by ranking them on the basis of the aggregate marks obtained by them in CPT up to 10th rank, on an all India basis, subject to his/her having secured a minimum of 60 percent marks. 

There is no practice of declaring any candidate as having secured a rank beyond 10 in CPT. 

So also, ICAI recognizes meritorious candidates in Intermediate (IPC) and CA Final examination, by ranking them on the basis of the aggregate marks obtained by them in both the groups, on an all India basis, subject to his/her having secured a minimum of 55 percent marks, in one sitting without availing of any exemptions. 

There is no practice of declaring any candidate as having secured a rank beyond 50 in Intermediate (IPC) or CA Final Examination. 

Students and other stakeholders are hereby requested to take note of the above and not be misguided by advertisements/publicity, contrary to the above stated position.

Supply of Certified Copies of Evaluated Answer Books in Soft Form - (28-02-2014)

This has been a great move of of the ICAI. Now Certified copies of Evaluated Answer Books is available in Soft Form.

Currently, certified photo copies of evaluated answer books are being provided to the examinees who apply for the same, in accordance with a scheme formulated for the purpose.

With a view to ensure faster delivery of certified copies to the applicants, it has now been decided to make available scanned copies of evaluated answer books to examinees who apply for the same, through a website, in soft form, as against the current practice of dispatching physical photocopies. Physical copies of the answer books shall not be dispatched to the applicants, henceforth. 

This new initiative will commence from the Intermediate (IPC) and Final examination held in November 2013. 

Answer books sought by an applicant ( both through online as well as physical applications) will be scanned and the scanned images will be hosted on a website and the applicant will be sent an email, at the email address provided by him, in his request, informing him the URL link of the website where they are hosted and the user ID and password required for accessing the same. 

Applicants can enter the site where the answer books are hosted only through the URL in the email sent to them. 

They can view and take print out of the scanned copies of the answer books sought by them, at their convenience, but not later than 10 days from the date of hosting. 

Students can continue to check the status of their applications at http://icaiexam.icai.org as usual. ( Candidates may please note that scanned copies of answer books will not be hosted on http://icaiexam.icai.org )

Subject: Zone-shifting of candidates for 15th December - 2013 CPT

Due to paucity of accommodation in certain Zones opted by the candidates in the cities of Chennai, Delhi and Indore, some of the candidates have been allotted examinations centres in the zone other than the zone opted by them. In view of this, it is not possible to accede to the requests of the candidates for transfer to an examination centre in a particular zone of the city opted by them. 

While inconvenience caused in the matter is deeply regretted, we seek the cooperation from the examinees and other stakeholders in this regard.

The fee for candidates opting for Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Doha and Bahrain centres will be US $160 (US $ 150 towards examination fee and US $ 10 towards cost of application form and information brochure) or its equivalent Indian Currency. The fee for the candidates opting for Kathmandu centre are required to remit INR.1350/-(INR 850/- towards examination fee and INR 500/- towards the cost of application form and information brochure) or its equivalent foreign Currency. Since the cost of Information brochure containing Common Proficiency Test application form includes the examination fee, no separate fee is required to be remitted at the time of submitting the filled in application form. The Information brochure containing Common Proficiency Test application form will also be available in the Regional and Branch Offices of the Institute and can be obtained there from on cash payment on or from 7th October, 2013.

Common Proficiency Test application forms duly filled in may be sent so as to reach the Additional Secretary (Examinations) at New Delhi not later than 28th October, 2013. Applications received after 28th October, 2013 shall not be entertained under any circumstances. Applications duly filled in will be received by hand delivery at the offices of Institute at New Delhi and at the Decentralised Offices of the Institute at Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Kanpur, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Jaipur and Pune upto 28th
October, 2013. Candidates residing in these cities are advised to take advantage of this facility. It may be noted that there is no provision for acceptance of application forms after 28th October, 2013 with late fee.3

The candidates who fill up the examination application form online at http://icaiexam.icai.org from 7th October, 2013 (10.00 hrs) to 28th October, 2013 (17.30 hrs) and remit the fee online by using either VISA or MASTER Credit/ Debit Card shall not be charged ` 500/- (i.e. cost of application form fee).

The aforesaid Common Proficiency Test (CPT) is open only to students registered with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India for the Common Proficiency Course on or before 1st October, 2013 and fulfill the requisite eligibility conditions.

QUESTION PAPER BOOKLET LANGUAGE:
Common Proficiency Test is an objective type multiple choice questions based examination.

Candidates will be allowed to opt for Hindi medium Question Paper Booklet for answering the questions.

CPT Passed Students Exempt from CS Foundation

Registration of CPT passed students of ICAI / or Foundation  passed students of ICoAI to CS Executive Program. We are pleased to inform that students who have passed Foundation Examination of The Institute of Cost Accountants of India ( ICoAI ) / or students who have passed Common Proficiency Test ( CPT) of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India ( ICAI ) are eligible to take direct registration in CS Executive Program.  ( Earlier only Final Passed students of ICoAI  / or ICAI were eligible to take direct registration in CS Executive Program.) Rs 7000/- shall be charged from them for admission in CS Executive Program. ( fees as applicable to commerce graduate ). All interested students are advised to take a note of it.

DIRECT ENTRY TO CHARTERED ACCOUNTANCY COURSE

In continuation of earlier announcement dated January 5, 2012, it is hereby informed that due to the closure of Banks on account of yearly closing and subsequent public holidays on 5th April, 2012 (Mahavir Jayanti) and 6th April, 2012 (Good Friday), the last date for registration for Common Proficiency Course (CPC) shall be 9th April, 2012 for being eligible to appear in the Common Proficiency Test (CPT) to be held in June, 2012. Accordingly, students can submit the application form for registration for CPC upto 9th April, 2012 for the June, 2012 - Common Proficiency Test.
