Exposure Draft: Measuring Quoted Investments in Subsidiaries, Joint Ventures and Associates at Fair Value (Proposed amendments to IFRS 10, IFRS 12, IAS 27, IAS 28 and IAS 36 and Illustrative Examples for IFRS 13)-(17-11-2014)

Exposure Draft published by the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) for comment only. Comments on the Exposure Draft need to be received by December 15.2014.

The International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) has published this Exposure Draft to propose amendments to IFRS 10 Consolidated Financial Statements, IFRS 12 Disclosure of Interests in Other Entities, IAS 27 Separate Financial Statements, IAS 28 Investments in Associates and Joint Ventures and IAS 36, Impairment of Assets.

The proposed amendments addresses questions and clarifications received by IASB on following aspects-
  • The unit of account for investments in subsidiaries, joint ventures and associates
  • Interaction between Level 1 inputs and the unit of account for investments in subsidiaries, joint ventures and associates
  • Measuring the fair value of a CGU that corresponds to a quoted entity
  • Group of financial assets and financial liabilities whose market risks are substantially the same and whose fair value measurement is categorised within Level 1 of the fair value hierarchy.

ASB invites comments on the Exposure Draft from the public. The downloadable version of the draft is available at:

Comments would be most helpful if they indicate the specific paragraph or group of paragraphs to which they relate, contain a clear rationale and, where applicable, provide a suggestion for alternative wording.

Comments should be submitted in writing to the Secretary, Accounting Standards Board, The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, ICAI Bhawan, Post Box No. 7100, Indraprastha Marg, New Delhi-110002, so as to be received not later than October 9, 2014.
