Common Proficiency Test (CPT) December 2016 Exam Date Announced

No.13-CA (EXAM)/CPT/December/2016: In pursuance of Regulation 22 of the Chartered Accountants Regulations, 1988, the Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of lndia is pleased to notify that the Common Proficiency Test will be held on Sunday, 18 December, 2016 in two sessions. [This Common Proficiency Test will be conducted as per provisions of Regulation 25 D (3) of the Chartered Accountants Regulations, 1988.] 

First Session (i.e. Morning Session)	10.30 AM to 12.30 PM (IST) Section - A Fundamentals of Accounting Section - B Mercantile Laws
Second Session (i.e. Afternoon Session)	2.00 PM to 4.00 PM (IST) Section - C General Economics Section - D Quantitative Aptitude

Applications for admission to Common Proficiency Test is required to be made in the relevant prescribed form as contained in the information Brochure, which may be obtained from the Deputy Secretary (Examinations), The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, lCAl Bhawan, lndraprastha Marg, New Delhi -.. 110002 on payment of Rs. 1500 (Rs. 500 towards examination fee and Rs. 1000- towards cost of application form and information brochure) per application form. 

The information brochure containing Comrion Proficiency Test application form will also be available in the Regional and Branch Offices of the lnstitute and can be obtained there from on cash payment on or from 6th October, 2016

Cost of Purchasing form is Rs. 1000. However the fees of Rs. 1000 for purchasing the Exam form need not be paid in case the students opts for submitting the Exam form online from 6th Oct 2016 to 27th Oct 2016 (17.30hrs). Applications for admission to these examinations are required to be made either online at http://icaiexam.icai.org 

Common Proficiency Test application forms duly filled in may be sent so as to reach the Deputy Secretary (Examinations) at New Delhi not later than 27th October, 2016.
It may be noted that there is no provision for acceptance of application forms after 27th October, 2016 with late fee. 


The aforesaid Common Proficiency Test (CPT) is open only to students registered with the * lnstitute of Chartered Accountants of lndia for the Common Proficiency Course on or before 1st  October, 2016 and fulfill the requisite eligibility conditions.

Student Registration Number of candidates who are admitted to the Common Proficiency Test(CPT) to be held on 14th June 2015

It has been brought to our notice that the student registration number appearing on the admit cards relating to CPT June 2015 (hosted on www.icai.nic.in and in physical admit cards sent by post to those applicants who submitted the OMR exam forms) of some of the candidates is different from their registration number furnished by them in their exam forms. This error has crept in inadvertently, due to some technical problems.

The error has already been rectified in the data base of applicants for the CPT to be held on 14th June 2015. Individual communications have also been sent to all the affected candidates by way of a speed post letter as well as by emails, intimating their correct registration number. 

The affected candidates are advised to note that no fresh admit cards will be issued. Admit cards already issued are valid for admission to the Common Proficiency Test to be held on 14th June 2015. Affected candidates are advised to take note of the above and appear in the CPT as per the details contained in the admit cards already issued. The correct registration number will appear in their Result Cards. 

Affected candidates can click here to check their updated registration number in the data base of the applicants for CPT to be held on 14th June 2015. It may be noted that the list contains only those cases where the registration number on the admit card is different from the one furnished by the candidate in his exam form, which has since been rectified in our database. 

Cases where the registration number printed on the admit card is the same as provided by the candidate in his exam form, will not appear in the list, since there is no correction/updation required in such cases. 

In case of any discrepancy or for any clarifications, candidates can write to us at cpt_exam@icai.in or call the Help Desk at 0120 3054851, 852, 853, 854, 835, 0120-4953751, 752, 753 and 754. 

Further, it is clarified that there is no error in the student registration number on the admit card issued to rest of the candidates.

Important Announcement For CPT June, 2015 Examination.

The Examination Application Form for admission to CPT June, 2015 examination is available from 7th April, 2015 and 28th April, 2015 is the last date for submission of filled up examination application form. The application form is available online at http://icaiexam.icai.org besides physical (OMR) applications forms also are available at the Institute’s Head Office, Regional Offices, Branches and Abu Dhabi/Dubai Chapters. 

Candidates who fulfill the following eligibility conditions, can apply for admission to CPT June, 2015 examination: 

(1) Registered* to Common Proficiency Course with Board of Studies of ICAI on or before 1st April, 2015; and 

(2) Either passed or appeared or going to appear in April/May, 2015 in Senior Secondary recognized Examination (10+2 examination). 

*Candidates who have applied on or before 1st April, 2015 for Common Proficiency Course registration with Regional offices of the Institute / Online but have not yet been issued registration number, can also apply for admission to CPT June, 2015 examination on Provisional basis; subject to their submission of a copy of their registration letter to the Examination Department at a later stage but before issue of Admit Cards.

ICAI Doubled Stipend for Articled Assistants with Immediate Effect

In a latest move to serve the cause of our students, the Institute has decided with immediate effect (i.e. 23 January 2015) to double the stipend rates for each of the year payable to the articled assistants pursuing Chartered Accountancy Course. Holding of Fresh Common Proficiency Test (CPT) for candidates of Mathura examination centre of CPT held on 14th December 2014

It is hereby informed that the CPT held earlier on 14th December 2014 at Kanha Makhan Public School, Mathura (U.P), stands cancelled, due to unavoidable circumstances.

A Fresh CPT will be held on Sunday, the 21st December 2014 at the same venue from 10.30 a.m. to 12.30 P.M. and 2.00 P.M. to 4.00 P.M., only for those candidates who were admitted to the CPT held on 14th December 2014, at Mathura examination centre. Candidates with the following Roll numbers, who were admitted to the CPT held on 14th December 2014 for appearing at the above mentioned centre at Mathura (U.P), are required to appear once again, in the Fresh CPT examination at Kanha Makhan Public School, Mathura
(U.P), to be held on Sunday, the 21st December 2014.

No.13-CA(Exam)/CPT/December/2014/II: In partial modification of the Institute’s Notification No.13- CA(Exam)/CPT/December/2014 dated 16th July, 2014, it is hereby notified for general information that in view of the Election to the Legislative Assemblies of States i.e. Jharkhand and Jammu & Kashmir, the
Common Proficiency Test (CPT) initially scheduled to be held on 14th December 2014 at Dhanbad (in the State of Jharkhand) and Srinagar (in the State of Jammu & Kashmir) stand rescheduled and the test will now be held at Dhanbad & at Srinagar on 21st December 2014 at the same timings i.e. 10.30 AM to
12.30 PM and 2.00 PM to 4.00 PM (IST).

However, it is clarified that the schedule of Common Proficiency Test notified vide Notification No.13- CA(Exam)/CPT/December/2014 dated 16th July, 2014 in respect of all other cities shall remain unchanged.

Correction in May-2014 Online Exam Forms

Correction Window

It is seen that candidates while filling the exam forms ( either online or physical) do not exercise reasonable care and commit errors. This creates lots of difficulties for them as well as the office at Admit Card stage and thereafter.

With a view to provide them an additional opportunity to rectify errors, if any,
committed while filling up the exam forms, in the fields centre, group and medium, an online “Correction Window” is being put in place with effect from the examination for May 2014 onwards.

Thus, “Correction Window” is a platform in the on line exam form submission process, where candidates can view and correct errors, if any, committed by them while submitting the exam form, in the fields, centre, group and medium opted.

The terms and conditions in this regard are as follows:

1. This facility is available at http://icaiexam.icai.org from 10.00 a.m. of 19.03.2014 to 5.30 p.m. of 25.03.2014.

2. This facility is available only to those who had submitted their exam forms online.

3. This window is not for fresh submission of exam forms and is meant only for correction of errors if any, in the exam forms already submitted.

4. Candidates can access the portal by entering the following details, as filled   in by them in their exam application forms:
 Bar code number/control number printed on their online exam form
 PIN ( i.e. the four digit number of their choice which they had filled in their exam forms) and
 Date of birth.

5. Following details, submitted by the candidates in their online examination
application form will be displayed on the screen.
 Name of the candidate
 Registration number and
 Group/medium/centre opted

6. Candidates will be permitted to enter changes if any, in any of the following three fields only:
 City opted. ( Change from domestic centre to centre abroad is not permitted)
 Group opted ( Change from single group to both groups is not permitted)
 Medium opted
In other words, no fresh payment of exam fees or refund of exam fees already paid will be permitted on account of correction of groups, made in this process.

7. A change may include change of centre/group/medium either jointly or severally.

8. Candidate will not be permitted to make any corrections/changes to any
other field.

9. The requests should be made by the student and not by anyone on his/her behalf.

10. Corrections, once submitted, cannot be changed thereafter.

11. The facility will be available free of cost.

12. The candidate should upload scanned copy of a handwritten application in
this regard, duly signed by him, seeking the corrections required.

13. Those candidates ( who had submitted their exam forms online) and who might have already submitted a handwritten request for change of centre/group/medium, are advised to submit such request/s, online, through this Correction Window, once again. Changes sought through the Correction Window will be treated as final.

14. Admit cards will be issued based on the examination application form and the correction received till the correction window closes.

15. Those who had submitted physical OMR exam forms and seeking corrections in the fields mentioned above and any other correction like registration number, name spelling etc may contact the exam department at:

CA Final November 2013 and CPT December 2013 likely to declare on 15th Jan

The result of the Chartered Accountants Final Examination held in November, 2013 and Common Proficiency Test (CPT) held in December, 2013 are likely to be declared on Wednesday, the 15th January, 2014 around 2.00 P.M. and the same as well as the merit list (candidates securing a minimum of 55% and above marks and upto the maximum of 50th Rank in the case of Final Examination and candidates securing a minimum of 60% and above marks and upto the maximum of 10th Rank in the case of Common Proficiency Test and in accordance with the decision of the Examination Committee) on all
India basis will be available on the following website:

Arrangements have also been made for the students of Final Examination and Common Proficiency Test (CPT) desirous of having results on their e-mail addresses to register their requests at the above website, i.e., http://www.caresults.nic.in from 10th January, 2014. All those registering their requests will be provided their results through e-mail on the e-mail addresses registered as above immediately after the declaration of the result.

Subject: Zone-shifting of candidates for 15th December - 2013 CPT

Due to paucity of accommodation in certain Zones opted by the candidates in the cities of Chennai, Delhi and Indore, some of the candidates have been allotted examinations centres in the zone other than the zone opted by them. In view of this, it is not possible to accede to the requests of the candidates for transfer to an examination centre in a particular zone of the city opted by them. 

While inconvenience caused in the matter is deeply regretted, we seek the cooperation from the examinees and other stakeholders in this regard.
