5 Charted Accountants who have made it Big

Being a charted accountant in India is not an easy job. With a passing percentage of 2% and number of aspirants in lakhs, being a CA is no easy task. But even in this tough competition scenario, there are some famous names that have a successful career.  One of the major reasons that the number of aspirants for CA are more is because these are widely regarded an edge above all. The following article talks about a number of CA’s who have made it big in some field or the other.
Valued worldwide, a CA is a much in demand profession. In India the number of aspirants per year rises. Therefore, passing all the required exams to become a CA is in itself an achievement. With that there are some Indian Charted Accountants who have made a name in the industry.
Taking a look at a few of the big names in this industry:

T.N Manoharan
Born in April 1956 in a family that belonged to a freedom fighter, T.N Manoharan is a commerce
graduate with a law degree. He completed is CA in the year 1983 and set up his public practice in the same year. Manoharan was one of the four representatives of India who were appointed in board of Satyam Computer Services for its restructuring.
He has been a teacher, a board member and is the former president of Institute of Charted Accountants of India (ICAI). Rewarded the Padma Shri award in 2010, T.N Manoharan is a popular name amongst a lot of CA students. 


Deepak Parekh
A B.Com graduate from Mumbai, Deepak Parekh is a well-known CA and business leader who has been awarded with prestigious awards like:
·         Padma Bushan
·         Businessman of the Year in 1996 from Business Insider
·         JRD Tata Corporate Leadership Award by AIMA
Deepak Parekh is the Chairman for Housing Development and Financing Corporation (HDFC) and is non-executive chairman of Infrastructure Development Finance Company. Other than this he also has his presence in many prestigious companies like Glaxo India, Castrol India, Hindustan Unilever, Mahindra & Mahindra and Siemens.
The expert committee that was formed by the Ministry of Power was under chairmanship and took care of the reforms that took place in the power sector.

Motilal Oswal
The CA turned businessman, Motilal Oswal is the founder, chairman and managing director of the renowned Motilal Oswal Financial Services. He has been awarded with a number of awards. He has
been awarded with the ‘Ashtray Samman Patra’ for being the highest tax payer for a tenure of five years from FY 95 to FY 99.
He has been awarded with a number of awards for his business achievements. Listing some of them are:
·         Excellent Business Achiever Award in Financial Services
·         Udyog Rattan Award
·         The Hall of Fame for Excellence in Franchise by Franchising World Magazine
·         India’s Best Market Analyst Awards 2009 by Zee Business

K.M Birla
The Indian Industrialist K.M Birla who take over the Aditya Birla group at the age of 28 had completed his CA from ICAI before that. He took over the Birla group after the sudden death of his father and has not only taken good care of the established business but also has expanded it and today is in the books of well-known businessmen.  The Aditya Birla group has expanded over different sectors under his leadership.


Rakesh Jhunjhunwala
The Indian investor and trader, Rakesh Jhunjhunwala is a qualified chartered accountant. Often referred as the Indian Warren Buffett, Rakesh Jhunjhunwala manages his own portfolio in his asset management firm. He has been a famous sole because of his investment and trading techniques.

All in all, a chartered accountant is more than just that. The learnings and struggle not only make them a better CA but develop them over all. CA courses till date are considered as one of the toughest ones to clear.
