Job Description

J.P. Morgan Asset Management - Global Real Assets, is one of the world's leading real estate investment managers with more than US$60 billion in assets under management and 450 dedicated investment professionals located in 14 global offices across Asia, North America and Europe as of July 2012.

JP Morgan India Property Fund (the Fund) invests in real estate and real estate-related assets across major economic centers in India through two funds. The Fund generally intends to hold its interests in such assets through interests in Indian special purpose vehicles ("SPVs") (i.e. joint ventures with property developers/ companies).

The Finance Associate will be responsible for assisting the Finance team in day to day finance relating activities relating to Fund accounting, Investee Company monitoring and Administration of the Fund.

Responsibilities include:
  • Fund accounting, which would include:
    • Preparation and review of financial statements and quarterly/annual report of the Fund;
    • Perform other daily, monthly, quarterly and annual accounting reporting functions;
    • Review investor capital calls, distributions and capital statements
    • Assist the treasury and cash management functions of the various Fund entities and affiliates, including preparation of wiring instructions and working capital facility draw downs/repayments
    • Interaction with various Fund administrators;
    • Facilitate investment valuation process, dashboards and other internal monitoring requests;
    • Populate investor requests from time to time;
    • Facilitate audit process with auditors of the Fund; and
    • Assistance and review of statutory filings (including tax filings) of each of the Fund entities across jurisdictions;
  • Investee Company monitoring, which would include:
    • Procure and review monthly/annual MIS of each Investee Company;
    • Coordinate with other groups (Asset Management, Development Engineering and Acquisition, etc) to provide seamless portfolio management across existing Investee Companies; and
    • Facilitate audit/tax process with auditors/consultants of the Investee Company on a timely basis;
  • Fund administration, which would include:
    • Coordinate Board meetings, General meetings etc of the Fund entities and also Investee Companies on a periodic basis;
    • Perform required in-house compliance duties to ensure full compliance with corporate/business policies/reports; and
    • Ensure compliance by the Investee Companies on all statutory filings with regulators (annual returns, tax filings, ROC filings, FC-GPR filings etc).

Qualifications

Essential experience:
  • Chartered Accountant with 4-7 years of experience in Finance function.
  • Understanding of real estate market, regulations and investment structures within the Private equity Real Estate industry.


Essential skills:
  • Well versed with US GAAP, IFRS and Indian GAAP accounting standards.
  • Strong technical and accounting skills with respect to Private equity/Venture Capital industry.
  • Strong analytical and decision making skills.
  • Ability to work with a team of experienced professionals.
  • Well-developed written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong relationship building skills.
